Hard to tell from just a piece of it (you call it a shrub, so I'm assuming this is a cutting), but it resembles Podocarpus. This used to be a popular hedge plant, although it seems to have fallen out of favor. It originated from Asia. It's not a fast-grower, but without pruning, podocarpus can easily reach 40 feet. It has no pests or diseases of major concern. You can read more about podocarpus here: https://edis.ifas.ufl.edu/ST495
