Is it true that if you have a lot of blossoms on a cantaloupe that you should pick off half of the so you will get nicer, fuller melons on the rest of your vines?

Actually, you can start picking blossoms off now because the flowers that get fertilized now will not have a chance to mature before the fall, cool weather. Some folks simply start cutting the vines back in order to eliminate new flowers and the leaves that take energy from the plant. (It's also easier to see where your developing fruits are, too.)
