grape vine management

Asked July 29, 2015, 7:51 PM EDT

I have two Northern grape vines in Hermantown, Minnesota. There are tons of grape clusters, but unfortunately many are molding. Should I cut the molding clusters off? Should I turn back some of the greenery which is quite abundant? Will I be able to make grape jelly?

Unfortunately, grapes are susceptible to a rot called botrytis. Control is to avoid restricting air circulation, especially around the bunches. Yes, you should cut the molding clusters off. You might also prune away foliage around healthy clusters (clean your pruners with 10% bleach before cutting). Read here about Botrytis Bunch Rot.
