We're not 100% sure, but it's probably either canna or hidden ginger (Curcuma petiolata). Flowers and larger, more mature plants help with identification.
The foliage of hidden ginger and canna look similar because on both plants, their "stems" are not true stems, but instead are long, interlocked leaf petioles from which the leaves arise. Plants in the Musa genus, like banana, also have these pseudostems.
If your plant blooms, you will definitely be able to tell the difference. Gingers have distinctive spike-like flowers, whereas canna flowers have large, soft petals.
