Harvesting pinto beans

Asked July 28, 2015, 10:35 AM EDT

Can you please tell me the best procedure for harvesting pinto beans? Do you harvest them when the pods look full, even if green, or do you wait for them to turn yellow? Also, once we're harvested them, do you let them dry in the pod or remove them from the pod for drying? Thanks very much for your time.

You should let the pods pass the mature stage on the vine, and pick them when they are dry and papery. They can be eaten fresh or stored in a cool, dry place.
