What is this succulent?

What succulent is this and why has it begun to change to a slightly gold color? It rests in a south-facing window and has only begun to do this recently. Any input is much appreciated!

This appears to be aloe. It will do well in bright light. The yellow leaves may be an indication that the plant is root bound. We suggest repotting into a larger pot and add fresh potting soil. Examine the base of the yellow leaf for mealybugs before removing.
