insect identification

Hello: As a Penn State grad and one that finds expert advice and consultation from the extension agent, I thought I would try your office for help. I did check the insect page on the web site without luck. Perhaps you can help with this "beetle" like insect that was found on our property in Upper Montgomery County. Thanks for any help. If does not appear to be a threat nor have I seen any others.

Yes you have a beetle, and it may prove better if either you took it to the Montgomery County office for ID, or call our insect ID center on campus:
