Why are there no butterflies this year? We live in the West End of Allentown and noticed no butterflies this year. We biked last weekend near White Haven, PA, and saw a few. But, we have seen none this summer here in Allentown.

I've noticed that there don't seem to be as many butterflies too. My feeling would be that it's most likely weather-related. I don't think this has been well researched, but here is a link to a study that was done trying to measure correlation between weather conditions and butterfly numbers over a number of years.
