Fertilizing lawn

Asked July 7, 2015, 9:43 AM EDT

I completed a lawn renovation May 15. I used a starter fertilizer when I put down seed. Should I spread a small amount of fertilzer down now in mid July?? I know it's usually not a good idea to fertilize your lawn in the middle of summer. My plan was to use half the amount recomended of Scotts Turf Builder now. Then aerate, overseed, and fertilize again in September. Thank you for your help Leo

With the cool, wet weather we are having this season, the grass is thriving. If your lawn appears yellow, it would not hurt to " spoon feed "with a half rate application of the Scotts product. If we go into a drought, let it go dormant and wait till mid September to start your fall fertilization program.if you got good coverage ,you may not have to reseed this fall.https://extension.umd.edu/hgic/lawns
