Could you tell me what might be causing this? Thanks! Tim

This is a pollination problem. Basically, there were no male flowers out to give pollen to the female flower, there were no bees or other pollinators to carry the pollen from male to female flower. This problem should correct itself. If it doesn't you can play the part of the bee by taking the male flower (one with a long stem) peel back the petals and rub the pollen onto the female flower (one with a fat, small fruit looking stem).
