Webbing on my Oak tree

I have webbing growing up the trunk of my big oak tree, is this harmful?

That webbing is produced by bark lice which are not a pest of the tree. They feed on debris on the outer bark and are not a concern. They will go away on their own in time. For more on these insects check out our Harris County Horticulture Blog:
