My 5000 sq ft backyard is about 40% covered with creeping charlie weed. How do I kill this weed and also prevent it from emerging again. I used Scott's weed and feed for 2 seasons and have not seen any results.

If your lawn has over 50% weeds (creeping charlie) you should consider total lawn renovation in late August - mid October. Your other option is controlling the weed when actively growing and overseeding in the fall.
Look for a broadleaf weed control labeled for ground ivy. It is possible you may need several applications. Follow all label directions and see specific directions for reseeding.
See our publication on Lawn Establishment Renovation & Overseeding. This publication gives step by step information for seeding and lawn renovation.http://extension.umd.edu/hgic/resource-library/home-and-garden-information-center-publications#lawns
