Why are the hydrangea leaves turning pale green or even white? Planted on east side of house, fertilized with dry steer manure last fall. Sufficient water this spring

We can't be sure what's causing the problem without seeing the plant or sharp photos. However, what you have described suggests the hydrangea may be iron deficient (chlorotic).
