Have much milkweed which I did not disturb. When will monarchs not need milkweed this summer? Would like to know when to cut down.

We'd leave them as long as you can stand them. Monitor them closely and see if you see any caterpillars using them for food. If after a good while you see none, you could cut them back.
Another option is to cut just some of them back and allow some tender new growth to sprout, which may be more palatable to later instars (juvenile stages).
