Food Storage/Freezing

Asked June 13, 2015, 6:03 AM EDT

I seem to remember reading an article somewhere about an university that developed a quick freeze trailer. That could be taken from farm to farm to quick freeze the extra produce crop. Do you know was this developed at UV? if so how can we learn more about it? Thanks Whitney

Hello Whitney,

The Vermont Agency of Agriculture, Food and Markets (VAAFM) own a mobile flash freeze trailer unit, that was operated for some time in collaboration with Green Mountain College (GMC). It appears that they are in the process of transferring the unit to another entity.

There is information about it on their websites -
VAAFM Mobile Quick Freeze Unit and GMC Flash-Freezing Technologies.

If you were seeking information from a different University/State, let me know and I can re-route your question to them.
