What type of grass is this?

Asked June 11, 2015, 9:20 PM EDT

This grass caught me by surprise a little bit; it has blades and then has what looks like sticker burrs at first, but they're soft to the touch, aren't thorny. What are they?

Texas

This looks like green kyllinga , a type of sedge. http://bugwoodcloud.org/images/384x256/2100021.jpg
You will want to control it if it's in your lawn, as it thrives under closely-mown conditions. Once it forms a mat, it's difficult to eradicate. This article will give you more information, including management options.
