I live in Arnold, Maryland. I normally use tall fescue seed for overseeing. In recent years (about 7-8 years) we've acquired a patch of bentgrass which keeps getting bigger--and I love it! I'm reading bad reviews about its properties, however, It's gorgeous and so soft. We have a fair amount of shade and it does great. Is it really as bad as some say?

Bentgrass is not as disease resistant as is Tall Fescue and typically requires much more maintenance to keep its aesthetic appeal. As you know, it is frequently used on golf courses, but regular maintenance is absolutely necessary in that situation.
If you like the grass and it is healthy, I wouldn't worry about it. Enjoy it as long as it performs for you.
