Broccoli looks bad in NJ

Asked June 4, 2015, 2:01 PM EDT

went thru a period of weather in the 50s then in the 80s in NJ and broccoli seemed to weather it well and looked fine. Now weather back in the 50's and broccoli looks wilted in the afternoon (did not look this bad in the morning) Any idea what is happening to it? (pic attached)

Thanks so much

Root problems, too much water, not enough water are the things that first come to mind when looking at your photo. One possibility is nematodes, but that would affect your other plants as well. Pull up one plant and look at its roots. A vole could be eating them. If you cannot determine what is going on, you could take the dug up plant to your local extension office. https://njaes.rutgers.edu/county/quickinfo.asp?Morris vw
