Suitability of Spinach Seed for the Human Diet

Asked June 4, 2015, 12:27 PM EDT

Given it's relatively close relationship to Amaranth and Quinoa, I would think that Spinach seed would be edible and likely highly nutritious for the human diet, but I cannot find any published resources that have researched Spinach seed as a food substance albeit there is a plethora of literature on Spinach leaves. Do you know of any studies that have been done on the digestibility and nutritive content of Spinach seed? Thank you for your time. Ezra Beaton
