rodent control

Asked June 3, 2015, 5:46 PM EDT

I own a duplex in Adair Village…ranch style…open attic from one end to the other….on a slab foundation…we have mice….how do I get rid of them without poisoning my cats or wild creatures who might catch the dying mice? The mice were in the house, but now seem to be "just" in the walls, scratching to get through. We are especially worried about fires since they are in the walls.

Thank you for using ask an expert.
Traps work well with cheese or peanut butter, baits can be in a box with a whole in it for the mice to get in but not other animals. There is not any known risk of animal predation poisoning with store bought agents.
