I planted the attached Linden Green spire tree last year. I noticed wholes in many of the leaves (see attached) along with this red vein (?). There were no bugs flying around nor where there any bugs on the leaves. I am wondering what may be causing this and/or what is the appropriate treatment. Thanks, Finbar

The holes are made by one of the caterpillars listed in the following site.http://www.extension.umn.edu/garden/diagnose/plant/deciduous/linden/leavesholes.html

The leaf also has galls. Galls are abnormal plant growths caused by various organisms (insects, mites, nematodes, fungi, bacteria, and viruses). http://www.extension.umn.edu/garden/insects/find/insect-and-mite-galls/
