Once kale has flowered, will it continue to grow or die? Can you let it grow and continue to cut and use the leaves?
Montezuma County Colorado
Kale is generally considered an annual (grows, flowers sets see in one year), although it may act like a biennial (vegetative growth the first year, flower/seed the following year after a chilling period). Once kale, or any other brassicaceae for that matter, has flowered, the leaves generally become very bitter. I doubt they will taste very good if your use purpose is to eat them.
