We are considering putting a bird bath in the yard and are concerned about mosquitoes. Is there a water additive to prevent mosquito breeding that is safe for birds, squirrels, cats and any other animals/insects that may want a drink of water? Thank you.

You may want to consider 'Mosquito Dunks' to place in the bird bath. You can find them at large garden centers or nurseries. The active ingredient is Bacillus thuringiensis subspecies israelensis. (B.t.i.).
B.t.i. is a bacterium that is deadly to mosquito larvae but harmless to other living things. You will need to read the complete label carefully and see what the listed active ingredient is. For more information on toxicity contact the National Pesticide Information Center at 1-800-858-7378 and inquire about it's safety for pets and wildlife.
