Hello- do U have to have more than one black walnut tree to produce nuts? Thanks

Black Walnuts are self-fertile, but it is recommended that you have at least 2 different varieties planted near each other as the time of pollen release and the time that the plant is receptive to the pollen is usually not at the same time on one tree (same for pecans) so multiple varieties are recommended for effective pollination.
