how do I get grass to grow in this soil I have I Hawarden iowa

Sandy soils can be improved by applying and incorporating good loam-type soil or compost into the the existing soil.

if amending the soil is not possible, several of the old Kentucky bluegrass varieties, such as South Dakota Common, Kenblue, and Parade, would tolerate the sandy soils better than most of the newer bluegrass varieties.
