peony disease treatments

Asked May 7, 2015, 6:06 PM EDT

This is the first year in 28 yrs that no blossoms developed on my peonies. One plant has a few curling leaves but no spots and the other has a few dark spots but no curling leaves. The plants are located in different areas.

We can't say for sure. If you could reply with attached digital photos that would be very helpful.

It's possible that you are seeing a combination of weather-induced and disease symptoms. You don't mention whether your peonies have had any leaf spotting in the past. Botrytis blight is a fairly common problem on peonies. This fungal disease is primarily controlled by cutting off all dead foliage at ground level at the end of the growing season. (Do not compost it.) You can look at photos of this disease in a search engine.

Otherwise, we'd encourage you to send us some photos for a more definitive diagnosis.
