groundhog/rabbit repellents?

Asked May 4, 2015, 11:13 AM EDT

Are there plants that deter/repel groundhogs and rabbits that I can plant throughout my garden? My fences don't seem to keep them away. They just tunnel under and pop up in the center of my fenced in garden! I already have tansy, mint, wormwood, chives and scallions all over.

The plants you have planted will not be eaten by rabbits or groundhogs but they will not deter them from entering your garden. There are commercial repellents that may help but will have to be applied frequently to be effective. Your best solution is a 3' high poultry fence placed 3" below the ground or bend 6" right angle to the ground to prevent them from digging under the fence. Trapping is another effective method.
