Pears from Australia with a hard brown center
Just wondering what it is with the pears I am buying from Australia for eating. They look wonderful, yellow, plump, no bruises, but when you cut them in half they have hard brownish insides that look more like a tumor. Because I am in Prince George, BC, CANADA I will add this here as your site will not let me specify exactly where I am.

Without photographs or seeing the actual pears it is difficult to say what the problem might be. Some pears have a tendency to ripen from the inside out and will turn brown inside before they show any signs of over-ripeness on the outside.
