Eliminating Honeysuckle

Asked April 23, 2015, 10:48 AM EDT

I need to eliminate a large area of established honeysuckle invading the area around a swimming pool. It was cut to the ground and now I need to apply a herbicide as new growth emerges from the roots. Last spring we tried Roundup and it was not successful. What herbicide do you recommend?

Harford County Maryland

No herbicide is going to stop a large area of honeysuckle by only one application. Persistence is the key to getting rid of it. As soon as you see the first baby leaf, hit it again with Roundup. If you allow it to grow at all between applications, it will take longer and more applications to kill it. Follow all directions on the label. Herbicide will work better in the fall than in the spring. vw
