We applied a pre emergent herbicide before pruning a couple of blueberry fields. Some of these branches were too close to the crown for our chopper to cut up. Normally we would use a brush spider to move these stray branches into the middle of the row but are now concerned that we would hurt our weed control. The brush spider would scratch the surface about a 1/4 inch deep in places. Will this hurt our weed control program?

I do not think so. Once the ground has settled and the herbicide has been rained in scratching the surface should not cause any problems. If you were going deeper than a couple inches I would worry.
