Boxwood decline hit my gorgeous bush 3 years ago. I removed the orange sections and other stems to open up the plant. Last year I removed more, and this year it appears that half the bush is affected. Can the bush be saved by cutting it back to 12 to 18 inches or treating it in some way-- or should I with great sadness remove it?

If the boxwood has a good root system, you can cut the plant back. However, they can be hard to rejuvenate. If the plant is in a prominent location in your landscape, It is up to you if you want to replace the plant. If so, you may want to choose another species of plant.
