Hi! Just sent the question about the hedge and the forsythia. Sending along this second "ask" in order to include the photo of the forsythia. Thanks for your help!

When you make a pruning cut, you get new growth at the point where you made the cut. Hence if you cut the top off of your forsythia, that is where the growth is and that is where the blooms will be. The best way to prune forsythia is to yearly remove one third of the oldest canes right down to the ground.
