Can you give me a the cause and solution to the above problem? I had a large boxwood die last year of the same condition and now another large boxwood seems to have the same condition.

Several things can cause boxwood dieback. Please read our website's boxwood info closely: http://extension.umd.edu/learn/ipm-series-boxwood-hg52
Consider all the causes of problems For example, voles can chew off the trunk bark and kill boxwoods. Solutions are included.
There is a new invasive boxwood disease to consider. Unless your boxwoods are fairly new, or a new one was installed nearby, it's highly unlikely that your boxwoods have Boxwood Blight, however, here is that info: http://extension.umd.edu/hgic/invasives/boxwood-blight
If you are not certain about the cause, we recommend that you send us photos of the affected (not already dead) plants in a follow-up email.
Thanks for your response. The boxwoods are several years old. Based on the pictures, it looks like Boxwood Blight. What would be your solution to the problem?
Please send us photos of the affected boxwoods so we can make a definite diagnosis We have to notify the Maryland Department of Agriculture.
