flowering trees

can you recommend a species of peach tree that would do well in New York city area. We have a small south facing garden with a fair amount of sun. We have had problems with juniper rust which has damaged our crabapple over the years and we hope to replace it with a resistant peach tree or other flowering ornamental smallish tree.

Dear gardener,

Your best move is to call an extension office near you: http://nyc.cce.cornell.edu/learnAbout/Pages/Offices.aspx

They should be able to refer you to someone that is familiar with your local area.
