I have these hole in yard all around a rotted tree trunk. I also have lots of rabbits and am thinking they may be rabbit holes---how do I get rid of them? I have included pic and the screwdriver next to them is size reference (norm size)

Maryland wildlife rabbits voles

These holes look too small for a rabbit. They don't actually tunnel like a mole, but dig what could be termed more of a burrow, which is short and shallow.

These holes look like they are connected, since there are several in the same vicinity. You can lift the sod with a shove to explore, (then replace it) to see if the tunnels are connected.

We suspect that these are the entrances to vole tunnels. Here is an article about voles on our website: http://extension.umd.edu/learn/vole-damage

They're hungry this time of year, so mousetraps should work fairly well for you if you put them out right away.

For rabbit control, see our Nuisance Wildlife publication: http://extension.umd.edu/sites/default/files/_images/programs/hgic/Publications/HG90%20Dealing%20wit...
