Shrubs to plant along a fence for privacy

Asked April 10, 2015, 2:45 PM EDT

Hello, I am interested in a shrub to plant along a fence line to block view of a neighbor's yard that has a lot of junk. The location is about ten feet long and partially shady. It is a low spot and so it can be very moist and the soil has a lot of clay. We are in Takoma Park. It doesn't need to be fully blocked, but to cover some of the clear view. Any suggestions are welcome! Native plant please. Maura

Given that the area is prone to excessive moisture, you may have better luck with one or more varieties of holly shrubs.
