Will mums survive a harsh winter?

Asked April 3, 2015, 8:14 AM EDT

I planted mums in late September 2014. First, do you think they could have survived our harsh winter? Should I cut them way back at this point? They of course look quite ugly, but I hate pulling them up if there is a chance they will come back?

Some cultivars of mums could have survived the winter. Remove any dead plant material. It is possible that you might get new growth from the base later in the spring. vw
