hello, what are the lighting requirements for blueberries growing in the Salem Oregon area? Do they need a acidic soil? What is the pH requirement for acidic soil? Thank you, John Delmonte

For best blueberry fruit quality, you will need lots of sunlight but with moderate temperatures. A clear Oregon sky in summer may have 10,000 foot-candles of light intensity. Blueberry plant will grow at 2,000 foot-candles as long as temperature is above 50F.
Blueberry plants need acidic soils with a pH range between 4.5 and 5.5. Soil pH can be modified by adding sulfur or lime for high or low pH soils respectively.
