When starting seedlings indoors for transplanting, which light is better, full spectrum plant/aquarium or cool white 4100k? They are both fluorescent. And how close should I place the light once seeds emerge?

Please see our vegetable website for information on lights and seed starting. You have several options. http://extension.umd.edu/growit/food-gardening-101/getting-started-lights-action

Once your seeds germinate place them 1-2” beneath a fluorescent fixture for 14 to16 hours a day. You can use a timer. Attaching thin chain or wire to either end of your light fixture will allow you to raise and lower the tubes. http://extension.umd.edu/growit/food-gardening-101/transplant-care
