Bay Laurel

Asked March 8, 2015, 3:10 PM EDT

Are leaves from Bay Laurel harmful to cats? We are building an outdoor enclosure for cats. In the area we are going to use is a Bay Laurlel. I use the bay leaves in cooking. Rather than move this tree we wonder if it would be OK to leave it in the cat structure.

Bay Laurel is not toxic to cats. There are others laurels that are, including Mountain Laurel, California Laurel, and English Laurel. If it is Laurus nobilis, or Bay Laurel, it is perfectly fine to allow cats around it.
