When can I expect fruit on my avocado tree?

Asked March 6, 2015, 2:38 AM EST

I have a tree that is 6 years old and about 15 feet high, and the trunk is about 6 inches across. I think it is a Haas. When can I expect fruit more or less? I am in the Laredo area.

My guess is that this tree has been grown from seed. Even if it was from a 'Haas' fruit, there will be considerable variability in what the fruit from this tree will look and taste like. The largest disadvantage in growing avocados from seed is a long period of juvenility. It may take 10 to 15 years for this tree to bear fruit.
