Dear sir or madam, Simple question for you, if you can help: Can you tell me what fast-growing trees do well on the Eastern Shore of Maryland? We've a house in Federalsburg, MD, and would like to get some trees in and growing this spring. Thank you, David Vis

Caroline County Maryland trees and shrubs plant selection

In general some of the faster growing trees tend to be weak wooded and harder to take care of later on. We really need more information before we can make recommendations. You did not mention the site where the trees will be planted - sun or shade and whether you wanted evergreen or deciduous trees. Also, consider the mature height and width of the trees before planting and are deer a problem?

Consider a mix of tree species so you do not lose them all to a specific disease or insect problem. See our website for planting information as well as publications for a listing of native trees and shrubs and a deer resistant list.
