using straw bales sprayed with karmex

Asked February 17, 2015, 2:38 PM EST

I am preparing to do some more straw bale gardening and have some bales available to me but they have been sprayed with Karamex a herbacide. My friend said it is to eliminate fungus. I have also added this straw to a hot compost pile. Will the process of composting eliminate the negative effects of the herbicide for later use in the garden ? I am also wondering it these straw bales would prevent my veggies plants and seeds from growing.

This is a serious plant killer. I cannot recommend its use in the home garden nor in compost. The following information will lead you to greater detail.
