Planting period for citrus trees

Asked February 15, 2015, 2:41 PM EST

I live near Johnson Space Center in Houston. Can I plant citrus trees right now? And what about planting a peach tree as well? I like to do it today ( 2/15 ) when the low temperature is in the 50s, even though it is expected to be colder during the next two days when the low temperature will be around 40.

It is probably okay to go ahead and plant since it won't be freezing. However I'd suggest waiting until the danger of frost/freeze is past to plant which would mean waiting another couple of weeks or so. If you want to go ahead and plant you can always cover the plant should a late freeze threaten.
