Moles or voles (not sure which) have invaded our back yard this past summer - tunnels seem to be every where - is there any thing we can do to chase them away for the upcoming season?
Anne Arundel County Maryland
If the damage you are experiencing is on your lawn, you are most likely dealing with moles, they are carnivorous feeding on grubs or earthworms. If the problem is on shrubs or perennials, then the problem is voles, they feed on roots and twigs .Moles are very territorial and will chase other moles, the damage may appear extensive but only a couple will be present. Moles can be controlled using harpoon trap. Voles, on the other hand, can be numerous, set out a few mouse traps baited with bird seed and peanut butter.
