Fruit trees in Anacortes Washington

Asked February 10, 2015, 1:48 PM EST

We recently purchased a home in Anacortes. It came with four semi dwarf fruit trees - an apple and three as yet mystery trees. I am adding three more semi dwarf fruit trees - another apple, a cherry and a pear. I want to keep them healthy and pest free. Is there a local source I can go to for advice on proper maintenance?

Congratulations on the new house and getting tree fruit with it! Yes there are many resources available. First if you have any specific pest question there is a Master Gardener clinic in Skagit county (http://ext100.wsu.edu/skagit/mg/). Second I would check out the WSU tree fruit publication: https://pubs.wsu.edu/ListItems.aspx?Keyword=fruit%20handbook%20for%20western%20washington. Outlines pretty much everything. Lastly I would also connect with the western Washington fruit research foundation for classes (http://nwfruit.org/).

Cheers

Thank you for the help Chris. Great information!
