Why is my pine tree crackling?
I have heard over the past couple of days a lot of crackling coming from the pine tree-maybe an Austrian Pine. Looked for the squirrel but could not see any movement and then noticed that the crackling was happening all over the tree-what is happening?

Thank you for your question.
The unseasonably warm weather during the day and then freezing temperatures at night have caused your tree to expand and contract. Be sure to give it adequate water this winter especially if moisture or snow fall levels are low or there are long periods of time between snow stprms. We are seeing some damage to evergreen trees because of the frost in November. Watch for needle drop which will most likely be a result of this weather.
