Is it safe to prune an apple tree this month, located in the Rainier, OR , Columbia County Area? The trees are about 6 yrs. old?

Yes. You can prune an apple tree at any time. Dormant season is traditional mainly because it’s easiest to see the tree’s structure then. The only risk of pruning is very cold weather will damage the flower buds when they are losing dormancy – that is, “waking up.”
