Tree under a power line

Asked January 11, 2015, 10:35 PM EST

I have a utility pole in my yard that I would like to disguise with an ornamental tree. I can't have a tree that grows too tall, and was thinking about a dogwood. What would you recommend?

Lane County Oregon

OSU Extension has a great publication called Selecting, Planting and Caring for a New Tree. Page 9 has a chart of trees that will do well under utility lines.
Kousa Dogwood is a recommended tree along with Goldenraintree, Amur Maple, Glorybower, Japanese Tree Lilac, Mt. Fuji Cherry, Vine Maple. All of these trees have a mature height of less than 30'.
