corruped external HDD

Asked January 4, 2015, 12:51 PM EST

I run WIndows 8 and have a corrupted external HDD.

Any program that tries to address the HDD stops and has to be cancelled.

You may have lost all of that data on the external drive if you do not have a backup somewhere. I suggest that you contact a local computer hardware specialist to see if the problem can be diagnosed and data transferred to a new external drive (HDD).

Sometimes virus programs can cause hard drive problems. Remember to maintain a good virus protection program.

And always remember to to maintain 2 copies of all important data.
